Harding Lab

We are pleased to welcome Mona Awad-Elgeid from the University of Khartoum, Sudan to Glasgow as part of the GCRF program. She has already done great things in the lab and we cant wait to see what will be next.

We are hiring!

We are now officially hiring a postdoc! If you are at the end of your PhD and are interested in investigating the unknown the metal biology of Toxoplasma gondii, please apply here using the reference 026935.

The position is initially for one year, with the option to extend.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about the lab, the research project or the post.

We are part of the Wellcome Center for Integrative Parasitology, one of the best places to study parasitology in the world, located within the University of Glasgow.

Harding Lab

The Harding lab studies the role of metals in the biology of the parasite Toxoplasma gondii, with a focus on how the parasite acquires and uses iron. Iron is required for almost every living cell, yet can be toxic and must be carefully stored to avoid damage. We are interested in how Toxoplasma meets these challenges and what the role of iron is in these unusual, evolutionary divergent cells.

The lab started at the Wellcome Centre for Integrative Parasitology at the University of Glasgow in May 2019. The Wellcome Centre is home to a broad range of parasitology expertise; from bioinformatics and molecular biology to integrative and clinical studies, many of which take place in disease endemic regions.
